Birding Tours
Angel Valley is perfect for birders who want to enjoy a pre or post breakfast bird watching walk. We have documented 60 plus species of birds on our property and surrounding land that borders the BnB. Angel Valley is also home to a host of hummingbirds and the Montezuma Oropendola (Psarocolius Montezuma).
Quetzal Tours
The Resplendent Quetzal can be found only 15 K from Angel Valley in the Valle de Los Quetzales. You don’t need to go to Monte Verde to enjoy walking through the cloud forests in search of the elusive Quetzal. We can arrange a half day tour with an experience bi-lingual guide for you. The best time of year to see the Quetzal is from February through June, during the wild avocado season. The much-loved food of the Quetzal. Transportation is available for an additional fee. Horseback Riding and Waterfall Tours
For the more experienced rider and more adventurous spirit, we work with a local guide to offer a guided horseback ride into a little-known mountain oasis waterfall. You will virtually have this place to yourself for the day, and it is often clear enough to see Volcan Arenal from different points of the ride. There is some hiking is involved in this tour, lunch is included. For the less experienced rider we offer gentle trail rides through the cloud forests, lunch can be arranged but is not included in the price. Transportation is available for an additional fee. Coffee and Chocolate Tours
While there are many wonderful coffee tours in Costa Rica, we have an exceptional tour only 30 minutes from Angel Valley. This coffee plantation has a unique history and traditions. You will start your tour off in the Rancho Mirador, where you can sample our delicious and prime gourmet coffee. After you visit the Seedling Station, the Coffee Wet Mill, the Roasting Room, you will visit La Casita de Juancho. This is a little house that was built so you can see how their ancestors used to live. Their guide will explain to you how they used to brew coffee, and why, even though it has been over 200 years they still use a chorreador instead a coffee maker. This plantation offers a Tasting Room where they have international tasters who will teach you how to determine what a good coffee is. This service has an additional $ 3.00 cost per person. Historical Tours
Known as the “city of presidents and poets,” San Ramon was home to many influential political and literary leaders of Costa Rica. San Ramon boasts five of Costa Rica’s past presidents, including Jose Figueres Ferrer. Ferrer was the man responsible for abolishing Costa Rica’s army in 1948. Also hailing from San Ramon are several celebrated poets, including Lisimaco Chavarria Palma and Felix Angel Salas Cabezas. The San Ramon Museum is located on the north side of San Ramon’s downtown park, this museum houses life-size dioramas which depict Costa Rica’s past and local history. Art Crawls Tour
Art is always in the air in Costa Rica, and San Ramon and surrounding the areas boast some fabulous local artists. It is our pleasure at Angel Valley to help promote the artists and art that is unique to our area. We will arrange a tour showcasing several artist studios in the area. Guided or Self-guided Driving Tours
There are many wonderful loop drives in the San Ramon area, the staff at Angel Valley can tailor a day trip plan that will encompass your interest the vast resources of the area.
- Poas: Poas is an active volcano with frequent small geyser and lava eruptions. The visitors center is open from 8 am to 4 pm. It has a cafeteria, souvenir shop, and auditorium. Poas Volcano National Park is Currently Closed and will Remain Closed due to Continuous Eruptions - Arenal: Costa Rica’s Arenal National Park has the most active volcano in the country. It was believed to be dormant until a major eruption in 1968. The park is next to the country’s largest hydroelectric project, the Arenal Lake Dam. The visitors center near the Arenal volcano has an auditorium, an exhibition hall, a souvenir store, and restrooms. Marked hiking trails lead to various points of interest and scenic overlooks.
